Using the data editor, we can assumingly edit players, clubs, leagues, nations etc. We can also create players and clubs, and even edit leagues accordingly to create our own custom league.

Before even attempting to create your own league, I recommend that you get use to the editor and become familiar with the tools.

Even after becoming familiar with editor, creating a league (especially a mixed nationality league with European cup places) is still fairly hard. I doubt anyone has ever successfully created a league without having to overcome a few hurdles and even asking for a bit of advice. This is my basic guide to creating a custom league; I am assuming you are familiar with the editor, so I will not go into much detail about simple beginner's stuff.

Okay, forsake of argument, you are turning the EPL into a European Superleague (consisting of the best European teams).

So, you have chosen the teams that are going to be in this league. Now you have to swap your chosen teams with a current team from the EPL.

You are swapping Lyon with Aston Villa.

1) Click on the English Premier Division and the panel named 'Teams'. Click on Aston Villa and the panel located at the bottom called 'Swap'.

2) A search filter will appear so search for Lyon. Click on Lyon and click okay.

3) Now double click Lyon (details) and assure their nation is England. If you prefer, you can keep their original nation, but this may hinder you game and cause it too crash. But you can always go back and re-edit.

4) Now go to Lyon's competition page. Assure their Division and Last Division are both English Premier League.

5) Set Lyon's last position to the last position of Aston Villa, which in this case, is eleven.

6) Assure Lyon do not have an 'Other division' or 'Next division', unless you are setting them accordingly to your nation.

7) Now go to Lyon's History page. Make sure the last year, (which is 2007) has the same position (11) as their last position on the competition page. You can edit more years, but this is purely optional.

8) Repeat this step until you are satisfied with your league!


Sometimes, custom databases just seem to crash with no logical explanation. This is the nature of custom leagues and often there is not much we can do about it. If you follow this guide when making a league, the chances of a crash are a lot less likely.
