Debrecen was founded on the 12th of March in 1902, named "Egyet?rt?s Futball Club". The name was eventually changed to the current day name of Debreceni Vasutas Sport, which translates to Debrecen Railway Sports Club. Alike many other clubs in Hungary, during the 50's their name was regularly changed, first to Debreceni Vasutas Sport Egyesulet, then "Debreceni Lokomotiv", which is where the club's nickname "Loki" comes from, next to "Debreceni Torekves" before they finally settled on Debreceni Vasutas SC. In 1979, the city's teams, DVSC and DMTE joined forces and formed DMVSC. 10 years later, they had split and DVSC was reformed. They were never the best club, lurking in the second tier of Hungarian football. As soon as they were promoted to the Soproni Liga in 1993, they won the Hungarian Cup twice and the Hungarian league title has been constantly retained by the club since they first won it in 2005. They are the current champions.

Similarly to other clubs, Debrecen's stadium is used for several sports. Stadion Olah Gabor Ut holds 10,200 people, fairly large compared to most. It will be replaced by the Debrecen Stadion, holding a massive 35,000!

Debrecen have the strongest squad in the league, so it should not be a straining challenge. You will receive a nice and tidy ?850k transfer budget and ?23k per week wage budget. That gives you chance to prepare for any possible challenge from any other club who may drastically improve their squad to challenge you and your title. I recommend that you perfect the squad by replacing the lesser players, who nevertheless are good enough to win the tile, but you should take the chance to get rid of them and buy some real quality.
Goalkeepers

Norbert Csernyanszki is clearly ahead of any other goalkeeper in the squad in terms of ability, the closest being Janos Balogh. However, Csernyanszki, is 31 and ageing, probably set to retire in around 2011, when Balogh should be in his prime to step into his shoes. You don't really need to use your cash in all honesty to purchase another goalie, but if you find a cheap youngster who you reckon will be able to better Csernyanszki's ability, it might be a good idea.
Defenders
Csaba Szatmari is first choice in the left-back position, but if you prefer to play a young, pacey player there, Leandro fits that bill. I recommend keeping Szatmari in that slot so that Leandro is freed up for his slightly stronger position in midfield. That leaves Zoltan Takacs as his cover. Szatmari's namesake, Csaba Bernath, is probably the best defender in the squad, so you should favour him at right-back over any other contenders. Adam Komlosi and Norbert Meszaros is a match made in heaven at the centre of the back line, as their combined experience makes them good influences on the defence and the whole team. Peter Biro, who at 21 is one of the best defenders in the squad, is next in line as deputy to those two.
Midfielders
The afore mentioned Hungarian, Leandro, is a perfect left winger- pace, crossing, first touch, creativity, which places him automatically at left wing. Balazs Dzsudzask, a much coveted hot prospect, isn't quite as good as Leandro yet, but he has the adequate attributes and potential to make it as a European star. It will be hard to keep hold of him as your chairman, will most definitely accept any decent bids, without your consent. If you manage to keep him, the future is bright. The same can't be said for the right wing, where Tibor Dombi lies. Although he is a good player, now he is 33 and growing old, he is feeling the wear and tear of professional football, and his main weapon, pace, has disappeared from his game. The only player who is possible of remotely filling his spot is Zoltan Kiss but he is not comfortable playing in that position. For sure, a good slice of your transfer budget could and should be spent in this area to get the right man. Kiss plays in centre midfield alongside Thierry Issiemou, who plays in the reserves when you take over. It would be stupid to let him rot in the reserves as he has shown a lot of potential in his first year at Debrecen. A nice alternative to Zoltan Kiss is Dragan Vukmir, a 28 year-old Serbian international who also plays defensive midfielder, almost a carbon copy of his rival.

Strikers
Debrecen managers inherit a host of top-class strikers, with a good variety of target men, fast strikers and all-round men- every one fairly equal in ability. 22 year old Gergely Rudolf, known well in Europe due to his 6 year stay at AS Nancy in France, probably edges it as the best striker in the squad because of his good, all round, attacking attributes. He is mostly played as a targetman, who wins the ball in the air despite his short height of 5"9. Aco Stojkov or Ibrahima Sidibe are good partners to Rudolf, with their pace and strength working well with his finishing and heading. Sidibe can also play left-back so his versatility may edge him forward slightly in the push for the place. Dorge Kouemaha also has a strong shout as a good replacement for Rudolf.
Young Talent

Peter Szilagyi starts out in the reserves, but you should look to loan him out for experience and to make sure he strengthens himself up to add another element to his game. He will never set the world alight, for he does not possess natural pace or target man attributes but could do a good job for you defending the title in the future years.
Istvan Szucs is known as "The Mountain" and it's not hard to see why. Standing at 6"3', he towers over terrified strikers which makes his job much easier- head it out and run. He is one of the deputies for central defenders, Adam Komlosi and Norbert Meszaros, and can also play well at the left side of defence. He is not the most talented, but is as brave as a lion and more determined than many you will see. He is nearing his potential but he's a good player and could cut it for any club in the division.

Left foot, right foot- Laszlo Rezes can use both feet. This ability contributes to his versatility heavily, allowing him to be comfortable in five positions, including right attacking midfield, left attacking midfield and as striker. He is not naturally blessed with lightning pace, but his all-round game makes him an attractive player to other clubs. He can be placed in the first team from the start, for he is an early developer.
Tactics

Debrecen possess a strong group of attacking and defensive players. Due to this, I have devised specially made formations and player and team instructions which suit the side and their players. Adam Komlosi and Norbert Meszaros are big, strong defenders, and they can deal with the pressure that may come due to the attacking mentality of the wing-backs, who are very quick. The right winger should be the quicker player while the left winger, should be more of a passer and someone who cuts inside to shoot. The strikers aren't particularly fast, so the target man supply is set at 'to feet'. If anyone wishes to download the tactic, let me know, and I'll put it on Filefront.
Ins and Outs
Ins
A scout would be a good acquisition for Loki, preferably one with a good 'Judging Player Potential' stat so that he can dig out Hungary's up and coming youngsters, who will certainly desire a move to Debrecen. It is up to you to find a decent scout, as most will be regens.
You will need a fast player for the right flank, Kichi from Tatabanya being a good idea. He has good pace, crossing and tries a trick or two, which will surely make him a popular member in the dressing room and in the fan base. My other recommendation is Ngam Peguy, a young Cameroonian, who plays for Diosgyor under 19s, and has pace to burn.
Outs
Gabor Tombi will be replaced by one of the above, so you could cash in and receive about ?100k for his signature.
Number 77, Peter Czvitkovics is a good player but not good enough. He could probably earn you another ?100k and maybe more if you negotiate well and get lucky.
Conclusion
Debrecen have ruled Hungarian football for nearly 3 years and you should try and keep them where they are, as well as pushing for qualification into the Champions League Group Stages. It is possible that you will get a challenge from the likes of ZTE and MTK, but it will be unlikely to be in the first season, so you should prepare for the 'battle' if you like in the opening campaign, by improving the squad.
