Top 10 for 10mil - Keepers PDF Print E-mail

These player guides are aimed at the more richer clubs so tough shit for you LLM's. In these guides I aim to tell you who the best players are in each position and are available for £10mil or less (prices are start of the first season) . These are not 'prospects' these are players who go straight into the first team. In my first installment i take a look at the best keepers for 10 million. They are in no order at all.

Chris Kirkland

Very good player, will cost the full £10Mil but is probably unlikely to move due to moving to wigan not that long ago, bid in January, no permit issues. But as with real life he does have issues regarding injuries. Enjoys the big matches is very important (obviously) as you'll be a rich club, therefore a 'successful' club and will be involved in 'big matches' on a regular basis.

Carlos Idriss Kameni

Another good keeper, when i played against Espanyol as Valencia he was a constant pain in my arse. He's only 22 and a solid first choice keeper, he has dual nationality which is a bonus for sides playing with an non-EU limit and no permit problems, although he probably has enough caps anyway. Injury proness is a let down but he'd be at the top of the list of keepers.

Craig Gordon

Everyone knows wee Craig. Top class keeper like in the previous games, but unlike FM05 he costs a lot more than £350K. One of the cheaper keepers (poet!) here, and one of the best also (scout gave him 4 stars) and again no permit non-eu blah blah. Always ends up at Aston Villa in my game, so if you want him get in fast. Also only 23.

Morgan DeSanctis

One of the more 'mature' of the scouted players. At 29 he's no spring chicken but he is at the top of his game more or less. But at £3.4mil he is a bargain if you want a seasoned professional who is up for the big games. Personally I like to buy players 26 years old or younger (with the exception of one or two). But if other keepers have been snapped up or you haven't got a super transfer fund at your disposal Morgan is your man (which is ironic as he has a girls name, you too Mr. Freeman).

Leo Franco

Another keeper who is susceptible to injuries, grrr. On the brightside he has dual nationality, and his goalkeeping stats are very good all round stats. All 13 or higher (except eccentricity which in my opinion is a good thing). Not my first choice, but again, a top class keeper at the top of his game for 8Mil? Could do a lot worse.

German Lux

Not an obvious keeper to think of really, an international but he's playing his trade in Argentina so he's not in the spotlight that often. This may be a good thing as other clubs may not be as chased as Craig Gordon etc. He doesn't have a second passport, and 6 caps might not (although should) guarantee a permit. Again all his keeping stats are 13 or above (except eccentricity and another one which isn't important, tendency to punch). Only 24, one of those further up my list.

Roman Weidenfeller

He's like the German Leo Franco, very good player, good stats, no need for a permit - but he's not injury prone! Cheesy

Ochoa

Buy him now. He is the 2nd best keeper in the game overall, closely trailing Oscar Ustari (who doesn't feature due to him being around £12mil) and has the potential to be better than Ustari. He may not get a permit, although he usually does. One of the best players in the game.

Jefferson

In terms of value for money this guy is it. Costs around £3.5mil, and has great stats in all departments. Only thing is, he will probably not get a permit to play in England. Playing in Italy or Spain and need a low costing top class keeper? BAM!

Stekelenburg

Good player in FM05, not sure about 06, either way he's good here. Pricey though, around 7mil. Not the most expensive keeper here by all means though. Amazing reflexes, fantastic stats in most departments, a solid choice.
