Following the highly successful 4-4-2 diamond, we decided to investigate a tactic based on one man up front. We anticipated quite good results, since Anelka has clearly been the man so far for Bolton, so we thought that he could probably dominate the field. Unfortunately, we were rather disappointed. Bolton ended up in the 10th position, one of the worst we have seen so far. Goal difference was positive, but nothing compared to the one we experienced in the previous test. Anelka was clearly the leader, once more. The previous test's surprise, Nolan, was rated quite low, with a mere 6 assists and 4 goals in 37 games. So I am proven right to believe that it was not an injury, but rather playing him in his righteous position, that made him star in the 4-4-2 diamond. I was quite surprised to see that a defender, for the first time, ranked pretty high in the team's stats. I also attach a screenshot of the starting XI, as chosen by the assistant manager, during May. |
