How much your player will benefit, or will not, is determined after taking into consideration his potential, as marked in the hidden attribute "potential ability" his work rate and determination, his professionalism (again hidden attribute) His morale will also have an impact on the player's improvement.
Of course this will also greatly depend on situations outside the player: The amount and quality of your coaches, as well as the quality of your training facilities all carry an impoartant role.
In Football Manager 2006, your players can have a maximum effect of +/-3 points as a result of their training. This means that a player with a 15 in dribbling can fall as low as 12 if left untrained, or go up to 18 if trained perfectly.
Keep in mind that this maximum range is not always fullfilled. A lazy, unprofessional player might only have a 12 to 16 range in the above exemple, unless his training is strictly supervised.
Remember also that a player needs approximately 2 months before he starts getting full benefit of a training schedule.
There are a few exceptions to the above. A player past his glory will be seeing his stats going down because of age, no matter how hard he trains. On the other hand, a youngster might be able to improve his stats way beyond the +3 limit, as he grows older.
A finall remark: Seeing your players' stats going up might be great. However what counts more is their match performance. A strict training schedule is one that might also tire some of your top men, and it might lead to worse degree of fitness and lower performance. Probably resting a few key players might see their dribbling go down a bit, but might also compensate you with improved match fitness. |
