So far we have spoken of the heroes and only of players. Now we 've got the antiheroes! And it's a coach! Raymond Domenech

His name was Aimé Jacquet. He had an assistant coach named Roger Lemerre. He also was happy enough to be playing in his own home, and to have the best player of the last decade in his squad. What did he do? He built a new, at this time, tactic focused around this player: His 4-3-1-2 was meant to give him the world cup, and 2 year later, the euro.

His name is Raymond Domenech. He came in to replace those 2 great coaches. He came just a step from destruction. He managed to score just 1 goal in the first two games, and failed to win any of those. He played with a single attacker when it was obvious that france could not score. He threw trezeguet   in the match in the 90th minute and managed to piss off even Zidane, when the latter was replaced. A minor coach following great leaders. Let's see how FM describes him.

To start off with, Domench is a mediocre coach with limited ability. A mere 140 of CA with 160 of PA makes him suitable only for a low-table premiership club. He has determination, true (17) but apart from that, what? Supposed to have an 17 in discipline, i can't understand how cases like the clear dispute between zidane, makelele and thuram could have happened during the second match. He is also supposed to train youngsters with an 18 -yet the french squad is rather old and with very few additions.

Apart from those attributes, it's the chaos. Domench seems more than a mere coach than a manager, with his  12 in coaching technique, 15 in tactics and 16 in hardness of training. FM doesn't even bother to rate him in matters of man handling or mind games. And, strangely enough, Football Manager 2006 judges him to be a 4-4-2 fan -though i have only seen sticking to a 4-3-2-1 so far.
